Their bloom time coincides with Rolph Fiedler Ipheions, as seen in the above picture. I have these two little bulb varieties planted under rose shrubs. When they are finished blooming, the greenery fades away quickly, not to be seen again until next winter. But, aren't they cute? The flowers are deeper blue than the Whisley Blue Ipheion, and the leaves are wider.There was five inches of rain in the rain guage.  Many places in the gardens are rutted from water erosion.  The ruts will have to be repaired and the areas will have to be adjusted to prevent future problems.  Sometimes my repairs work and sometimes they don't. So far I think they are better bloomers than Rolph Fiedler Ipheions, but time will tell. The Rolph Fiedlers are a more intense blue. Ipheions are considered good shoes and socks plants for early spring blooming bulbs. The Magic Lily greenery will die back by mid-summer, and they will send up pink blooms on slender stalks in late summer. They would be good naturalized in the lawn. They are not very expensive. I bought 100 for $31 at Brent and Becky's Bulbs. I will see next year how well they come back. If they come back strong then they will be worth investing more in. It would be nice to see these little purple flowers popping up all over the yard in February. The armadillos are always rooting around in it, so it is not growing as robustly as it normally would. The flowers are a vivid red. Salvias are rabbit and deer resistant. Going to Norman for the weekend - OU and Missouri - big game!Watered the roses. The moles have created a maze of trails under the roses. I suspect that's why I've lost 3 of my roses. I threw this seed down in lots of places, but this is the only garden in which it bloomed. It's pretty, not real showy, but I like the bloom time. All the other wildflowers finished blooming long ago. My pumpkin vines are climbing up a fence, over an arbor, and also all along the ground. The pumpkins can be encased in a an old pantyhose if they are hanging from an arbor. I checked all four days we were at the farm last week for male flowers so that I could pollinate the flower. But no male flowers ever opened, only females!
